TRAIN 4 LIFE

Train 4 Life is a free fitness program through Indiana Special Olympics created for people with intellectual disabilities. Designed for athletes ages 13 and older, the 12-week program includes pre- and post-biometric and fitness testing, group workouts, weekly nutrition, and healthy lifestyle education. Participants work out alongside individuals without intellectual disabilities to build a sense of mentorship, friendship, and community. The program’s model is designed to meet individuals where they are and set achievable goals as they progress and take on increasing physical challenges.

Studies have shown that nearly 75% of adults and 50% of youth with intellectual disabilities are overweight or obese. They are also 4x more likely to acquire Type 2 diabetes. By participating in this program and developing consistent healthy choices, athletes can see measured outcomes and grow continued good habits throughout their lives.
